Samuel P. Sellberg

I’m a creative, detail oriented, and logically minded person, originating from Sweden, that enjoys puzzles, music, art, and reading books about science and modern philosophy. My idea of entertainment is to learn new things, immerse myself into new and vast subjects, and to get inspired by others’ creations and scientific presentations. I don’t like to waste time, and in order to earn my own gratification, I chase the feeling of being productive by working towards some set goal, either in my projects or in my work.

Innovation is my biggest passion in life, and I have a tendency of burrowing myself in advanced projects that challenge me to solve difficult problems. My self-motivation and drive comes from my vision of the end result, and so, even tedious tasks become productive as I know that for every task I accomplish, I will be one step closer to the vision.

Innovation

Based on the visual phenomenon discovered when a few drops of water settled on my phone’s screen, a start-up, devoted to develop the first prototype of a new light-field screen technology which would serve as an upgrade to the current screen technology deployed in every phone, tablet, monitor, or TV. The new Holoscreen can visualise virtual elements in all three dimensions, introducing an infinite depth, both inwards and outwards, to the otherwise flat screen.

Experimenting with molecular gastronomy, I managed to find a way to replace the starch in baking flour with cellulose, and could therefore create bread without calorie contributing carbohydrates. I then continued to purchase all available sweeteners on the market to develop my own calorie free sugar analogue, and modified fat in my homebuilt lab to make it indigestible. The result; I can now bake any pastry without any calories!

Synthetic Biomimetics

The knowledge I gained during my Holoscreen project set me onto an idea of using some materials’ unique properties in order to create a new formulation of artificial muscles. Months of additional research later resulted in an innovation describing a printable material that contracts in reaction to an applied voltage, which will be ideal for printing biomimetic robotics.

I have always had an enormous interest in the mysteries of the brain and how our minds work. Trying to boil down the very nature of a thought led me through advanced psychological research, numerous philosophical works and a myriad of thought experiments. In combination with modern AI modelling, I started to compute philosophical ideas in search of answers to some of our time’s biggest questions.

Still under development. Unknown how much of the project's core idea that can be shared at the moment.

Protein Conformational Adaptation

Proteins are extremely small biological machines, capable of seemingly any task, produced entirely from our DNA, which is something I have always found extremely fascinating. I formulated a thesis stating that these protein machines can be artificially designed by computationally building their lowest energy state. I therefore started to develop a software that lets the user manually design a protein based on this principle, in order to make custom biological machines.

My oldest project that I started fresh out of high-school. This is a mathematical model created to simulate the full emotional spectrum experienced by humans, and meant to allow artificial beings to reason about emotions on a more fundamental level than just lexographical knowledge.
